  • Partnership aims to drive opportunities to promote the growth of sustainable and regenerative tourism development in Saudi Arabia, and showcase the extensive new openings anticipated this year at The Red Sea and AMAALA

Riyadh, 20 Feb 2025 – Red Sea Global (RSG), the vertically-integrated real estate developer behind regenerative tourism destinations The Red Sea and AMAALA, and the Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) have today signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the sidelines of the Saudi Media Forum. The MoU aims to promote cooperation between the two entities by enhancing visibility and recognition on both national and international stages.

The MoU was signed during a ceremony attended by key representatives from both organizations, who expressed their commitment to building a robust cooperative relationship that serves their mutual objectives. The primary focus of this collaboration is to raise awareness of RSG’s diverse portfolio of unique destinations, particularly the significant schedule of openings during 2025, as well as the responsible credentials of the developer, through tailored media coverage strategies and mutual media projects.

"This year is huge for Red Sea Global with the hub island of The Red Sea destination, Shura, set to open doors to 11 new resorts, and AMAALA welcoming first guests to Triple Bay. We believe that by collaborating with the Saudi Broadcasting Authority, we can effectively showcase the beauty and uniqueness of our destinations while demonstrating our alignment with the Kingdom’s vision for a sustainable future by sharing both our ambitions and our achievements,"
Ahmad Darwish, Group Chief Administrative Officer at RSG

The partnership will deliver strategic media initiatives that highlight best practices and innovations in regenerative tourism and environmental sustainability. In addition, RSG and the SBA will collaborate to organize conferences, panel discussions, and media briefings and tours focused on sustainability, tourism, and the future of Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, through the partnership, a series of training programs are set to be developed and implemented to enhance the competencies of media professionals in tourism storytelling through workshops and hands-on sessions. These programs will play a crucial role in ensuring a robust and skilled workforce is in place to support the Kingdom’s burgeoning tourism sector.

The SBA expressed its enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the important role of the media community in raising awareness and shaping public understanding and appreciation of the Kingdom’s rich cultural and environmental heritage.

At this occasion, Khaled Alghamdi at Saudi Broadcasting Authority said: “Our partnership with RSG showcases Saudi Arabia’s commitment to pioneering regenerative tourism, as they unveil exciting new destinations in 2025. Together, we’ll highlight the transformative work being done to both protect our natural heritage and create exceptional tourism experiences.”

RSG is at the forefront of implementing the concept of regenerative tourism on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast at its two flagship destinations. The approach taken by the ground-breaking developer centers on restoring and enhancing local ecosystems, providing opportunities for those living in local communities to thrive, while developing world-class tourism experiences.

Moreover, the developer made a commitment to utilize 100% renewable energy for all operations, including solar-powered hotels and eco-friendly transport systems at both destinations. The Red Sea is home to multiple solar farms and one of the world’s largest battery storage facilities enabling the entire destination to be off-grid powered solely by renewable energy, even when the sun goes down.

The Red Sea welcomed its first guests in 2023. It now has five hotels open, as well as the Red Sea International Airport (RSI), situated within three hours' flying time of 250 million people and eight hours' flying time for 85% of the world’s population. Once complete, The Red Sea destination will comprise 50 resorts, offering up to 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential units across 22 islands and six inland sites. It will also feature luxury marinas, golf courses, a diverse range of dining options, and entertainment facilities.

AMAALA is set to welcome its first guests later this year with more than 1,400 hotel rooms across eight luxury resorts. When complete it will be home to around 4,000 hotel rooms across 30 hotels, and more than 1,200 luxury residential villas, apartments, and branded residences alongside high-end retail establishments, fine dining, wellness, and recreational facilities.
